Virtual CFO
A virtual CFO is the finance function for a business that does not employ one. The books may already be kept. This work is what a chief financial officer would read from those books, and what has to be done before a date passes.
Management reporting
Each month the firm sets out revenue, margin, and the costs that moved, in a form the people running the business can use. The report is tied to the closed books. It is not a dashboard of figures that have not been reconciled.
Cash and working capital
The view covers what is due in, what is due out, and what tax and statutory payments fall in the coming weeks. A decision on a large expense or a drawing is read against that position, not against the profit in the last statement alone.
The calendar
Returns, advances, audits, and registrar filings are dated before they are due. The virtual CFO work is to see that the paper for each date is started in time, and to tell the business when a date cannot be met on the records as they stand.
It sits next to financial accounting, which keeps the books, and next to tax reporting, which files the returns. Write to office@kgcmail.com about a matter already in hand.
